Biography
Gunnar Trumbull is the Phillip Caldwell Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, where he is a leading scholar on the intersection of business, political economy, and climate regulation. His research and teaching focus on how companies and governments can effectively respond to the challenges of climate change, with particular attention to regulatory frameworks, industrial policy, and green innovation.
Professor Trumbull is co-director of the Green Industrial Strategy program, a joint initiative between Harvard Business School and the University of California, Berkeley, which examines how climate policy and industrial strategy can accelerate the transition to low-carbon economies. At Harvard, he teaches MBA students and executives on Global Climate Change and business-climate leadership, including his book A Concise Business Guide to Climate Change published by Harvard Business School Press.
Beyond climate, Professor Trumbull has written extensively on consumer politics and innovation policy, with books on French industrial policy (Silicon and the State), consumer credit (Consumer Lending), and European consumer politics (Consumer Capitalism). His current work emphasizes how businesses can integrate climate imperatives into competitive and regulatory strategies, making him a key voice in shaping the dialogue between business and climate governance.
