Biography

Amin Mohseni is a macroeconomist at the Atlantic Council’s GeoEconomics Center where he leads the Center’s flagship Bretton Woods 2.0 Project. He is also a senior lecturer at American University, Washington D.C. He has more than 20 years of experience in international organizations, academia, think tanks, the private sector, and international teaching & research centers. Amin was a consultant and research economist at the World Bank Group from 2007 to 2020. He was also a research scholar at the Qatar Foundation, an energy demand forecaster at PEPCO, and a telecommunications engineer at Texas Instruments.

Amin’s areas of expertise are development macroeconomics, sustainable growth, energy economics & transition, international financial relations & political economy, and economic statecraft. Regionally, his research has mainly covered emerging markets and developing economies with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), China, and Sub-Saharan Africa. Amin has a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, an M.A. in International Development, and a Ph.D. in Economics.
